HPLC Application: Nickel Contamination in Hydrogenation Products

Application Notes: Primesep 100 allows the quantitation of nickel cation in a hydrogenation product. Nickel is retained by cation exchange and the hydrogenation product is retained by hydrophobic, reversed-phase mechanisms. Adding an ELSD detector to the system allows detection of nickel which was not possible with UV alone. The separation uses a mobile phase mixture of water, acetonitrile (MeCN, ACN) and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) with evaporative light scattering detection (ELSD) and UV detection.
