HPLC Method for Analysis of Fluticasone Propionate in Nasal Spray on Newcrom R1 Column
June 11, 2018
Fluticasone Propionate is a corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory conditions. It is available in multiple forms, most notably as a nasal spray, inhaler, and a topical cream. It reduces inflammation through binding glucocorticoid receptors inside cells, preventing production and release of inflammatory mediators like histamines, cytokines, and leukotrienes.
Fluticasone Propionate can be retained and analyzed using the Newcrom R1 stationary phase column. The analysis utilizes a isocratic method with a simple mobile phase consisting of water, acetonitrile (MeCN). Detection is performed using UV.

Newcrom R1
The Newcrom columns are a family of reverse-phase-based columns. Newcrom A, AH, B, and BH are all mixed-mode columns with either positive or negative ion-pairing groups attached to either short (25 Å) or long (100 Å) ligand chains. Newcrom R1 is a special reverse-phase column with low silanol activity.
