Cefepime is a fourth generation cephalosporin antibiotic usually reserved to treat severe nosocomial pneumonia and febrile neutropenia as well as multiple drug-resistant microorganisms such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
