Stearyl methacrylate is used for manufacturing polymers as well as an oil additive for viscosity adjustments. Stearyl methacrylate can be retained in HPLC on Newcrom R1 column using anhydrous conditions with the mobile phase consisting of methanol (MeOH) and acetonitrile (ACN) with no buffer necessary. The analysis method is MS-compatible and can also be UV detected at 230nm

Condition

Column Newcrom R1, 3.2×50 mm, 3 µm, 100A
Mobile Phase MeCN/MeOH – 80/20%
Buffer No
Flow Rate 1.0 ml/min
Detection UV 230 nm,  MS-compatible mobile phase

Application Column

Newcrom R1

The Newcrom columns are a family of reverse-phase-based columns. Newcrom A, AH, B, and BH are all mixed-mode columns with either positive or negative ion-pairing groups attached to either short (25 Å) or long (100 Å) ligand chains. Newcrom R1 is a special reverse-phase column with low silanol activity.
